報告摘要：This talk will provide an interim review of mathematical modeling and analysis research work conducted at the Laboratory for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LIAM), that has been completely driven by policy issues in different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. I will focus on the need and challenge of identifying contact mixing patterns during a rapidly evolving pandemic, and designing the optimal pathways towards reopening the economy under substantial medical resource constraints and public behavioural uncertainties. I will also share my view about capacity needs for a large research team to play a useful role to interact with decision makers to inform decision making.
吳建宏教授簡介: 1983、1985、1987年分獲湖南大學學士、碩士、博士學位，湖南大學第一位博士，現任加拿大應用數學首席教授(Canada Research Chair)，加拿大約克大學數學與統計必一終身教授，湖南大學客座教授，西安交通大學長江學者講座教授。吳建宏教授是傳染病建模和大數據信息分析的聯合主編，同時是《J. Mathematical Biology》和《IEEE Transactions on the Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence》等期刊的編委會成員；擔任菲爾茲研究所委托的加拿大國家COVID-19大流行快速響應建模工作組的負責人，是省（安大略省）和聯邦（加拿大）建模專家組成員。在Kluwer、AMS/Fields、Springer、Wiley等出版社出版專著8 部，編著14 部，發表學術論文350多篇。研究方向包括動力系統、神經網絡和模式識別、生物數學和流行病學。獲得了包括加拿大女王鉆石禧功勛章（Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal）、York大學終身傑出特聘教授（University Distinguished Research Professor）、終身Fields Institute Fellow、加拿大華人專業人士傑出成就獎、加拿大新先鋒科技獎等在內的10余項學術成就獎。
